Maewood Johnson, age 85, of Long Fork Virgie passed away on Friday, October 15, 2010 at her home. She was born November 6, 1924, the daughter of the late Arsley and Viola Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Bonnie Damron and Brenda Tackett, one son-in-law, Steve Tackett, one brother, Milo Johnson, one sister, Willa Makarewics, one half-brother, and two half-sisters. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Alvers Johnson, two sons, James Daryll “Jimmy” (Linda) Johnson of Virgie, KY and Jerry “Doc” (Debbie) Johnson of Sevierville, TN, one daughter, Terri Lynn (Walter) Carter of Little Robinson Creek, one brother, Dewey Johnson of Polk, OH, one sister, Odell Stewart of Neon, KY, two half-brothers, Ricky Johnson and Arsley Johnson Jr., two half-sisters, Phyllis Anderson and Deremia Osborne. She is also survived by a dear friend and sister in Christ, Linda Fouts. Maewood had twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Maewood had been a member of the Church of Christ since August 1972. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 17, 2010, after 6 p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be held on Monday, October 18, 2010 at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Church of Christ ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery.
