Elberta J. Johnson

Elberta J. Johnson, age 77, of Virgie, KY, passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2010, at the Kindred Hospital in Louisville, KY. She was born on April 4, 1933, the daughter of the late Mander and Mary Alice Osborne Johnson. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Hassell Johnson, by one sister, Dixie Harmon, and by a brother Melvin Johnson. She is survived by three sons, Curtis Johnson of Hazard, KY, Conley Johnson of Virgie, KY, and Ronnie Johnson of LaGrange, KY, by three daughters, Maudie Sorenson of Shelbiana, KY, and Jane Branham and Francis Gilbert both of Robinson Creek, KY., by a brother, Charles Johnson, by eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2010, after 6 p.m. at the Calvary Freewill Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 12 noon at the Calvary Freewill Baptist Church with S.J. Bates officiating. Burial will follow in the Ben Johnson Cemetery at Osborne Fork. Special services will be held on Saturday and Sunday nights at 7 p.m.
