Bernard (Red) Cantrell age 75 passed away Tuesday, October 19th, 2010 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Bernard was born on August 11th, 1935 to his parents the late Jeff Cantrell and Edna Baker Cantrell. He was the husband of Hattie Holbrook Cantrell, a retired coal miner for Beth-Elkhorn Coal Company, and a member of the Hylton Freewill Baptist Church. Along with his parents, Bernard was preceded in death by one sister, Alsie Ramey, three brothers, Marion Cantrell, Ersel Cantrell, and Jeff Cantrell Jr. Along with his wife, Bernard is survived by one daughter, Deborah (James) Ratliff of Shelby Gap, Ky., three brothers, Adam Cantrell of Ashcamp, Ky., E.J. Cantrell of Florida, Eddie Ray Cantrell of Shelby Gap, Ky., five sisters, Sylvia Blevins of Danville, Va., Anetta Burke of Shelby Gap, Ramona Couch of Harlan, Ky., Barbara Watson of Mt. Aerie, N.C., Lorene Ramey of Shelby Gap, Ky., two grandchildren, Thomas Austin Black, Dakota Ratliff, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Wednesday at 6p.m. at the Hylton Freewill Baptist Church. The funeral will be Friday at 1p.m. at the Hylton Freewill Baptist Church with Homer Lee Mullins, Donnie Bryant and others officiating. The burial will follow in the Cantrell Family Cemetery.
