Maurice James Newsom

Maurice James Newsom age 79 passed away Tuesday, October 19th, 2010 at the U.K. Medical Center. Maurice was born on Jan. 8th, 1931 to his parents the late G.W. Newsom and Nancy Alice Hampton Newsom. He was the husband of Ruth Newsom, a retired auto man teacher for the Commonwealth of Ky., and a believer of the Old Regular Baptist Faith. He also served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force. Along with his parents, Maurice was preceded in death by seven brothers and five sisters. Along with his wife, Maurice is survived by one brother, Noble Newsom of Indian Creek, one sister, Dorothy Newsom Damron of Marion, Indiana, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Thursday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Special services will be Thursday and Friday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Saturday, October 23rd, 2010 at 11a.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. The burial will follow in the Johnson Memorial Park.
