Sylvia Ellen Reed

Sylvia Ellen Reed age 87 passed away Monday 8-17-2009 at the Kings Daughter Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. Sylvia was born on January 29th, 1922 to her parents the late Charlie O'Quinn and Kate Stratton O'Quinn. She was the wife of the late Lafayette Reed, a retired proof reader for News-Express, and a member of Grassy Freewill Baptist Church. Along with her parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by her first husband, George W. Cavins, two brothers, George O'Quinn and Harrison O'Quinn, and three sisters, Martha Hughes, Imel Sullivan, and Goldie Cavins. Sylvia is survived by one son, Larry Douglas (Sue) Cavins of Tecumseh, Mi., one daughter, Elleyn (Ralph) Varney of Raccoon, Ky., four step sons, Terry, Ricky, John Fitchgerald, & Bruce Reed, two step daughters, Rita Howell and Wanda Wells, two sisters, Elva (Zaley) Hobbs of Cleveland, Ohio, Naomi Simmons of Columbus, Ohio, three grandchildren, Ralph (Vanessa) Varney Jr., Chad Eric Varney, Donna Lynn Cavins, two great grandchildren, Tracy Connor Varney, Logan Cacy Varney, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday at 6p.m. at the Grassy Freewill Baptist Church. The funeral will be Thursday at 11a.m. at the Grassy Freewill Baptist Church. The burial will follow in the Johnson Memorial Park.
