Curtis Lee Ison age 86 passed away Tuesday April 7th, 2009 at his home. Curtis was born on Dec. 16th, 1922 to his parents the late Muncie Ison and Lillie Vanover Ison. He was the husband of the late Betty Lee Billips Ison, a retired employee for Beth Elkhorn Coal Company, and a member of the Marshall's Branch Worship Center. He also served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of Jenkins Masonic Lodge NO. 856, Pine Mountain Capter O.E.S. El Hasa Temple. Along with his wife and parents, Curtis was preceded in death by one son, Ricky Lee Ison, two brothers, Poley Ison and Joe Ison, and two sisters, Virgie Swindall and Ruby Stofer. Curtis is survived by one son, Curtis Steven Ison of Jenkins, Ky., one daughter, Irita Jo Anderson of Jenkins, Ky., one sister, Beulah Meade of Pound, Va., five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Wednesday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. The funeral will be Thursday, April 9th, 2009 at 11a.m. with Allen Culbertson, Roger Jenkins, and Danny Hurst officiating. The burial will follow in the Powell Valley Memorial Garden in Va.
