Helen Jean Damron, age 56, of Shelbiana, KY, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2008, at the Pikeville Medical Center. She was born on May 27, 1952, the daughter of the late Matt and Nell Carnes Slone. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by an infant son, Billy Damron, by one brother, James Slone, and by one sister, Alice Cumber. Helen was a nurse for more than twenty years at the Pikeville Medical Center and was a member of the Church of Christ. She is survived by her husband, Bill C. Damron, by three sons, George Damron of Johns Creek, Jeffrey Damron of Hurricane, KY, and Nathan Damron of Shelbiana, KY, by one daughter, Buckie Damron of Tennessee, by three brothers, Matt Slone of Pikeville, KY, Tim Slone of Feds Creek, KY, and Charles Slone of Virgie, KY, by five sisters, Dorothy Kiser of Caney, KY, Irene Wakeland of Pikeville, Samantha Slone of Pikeville, Carrie Payne of Louisville, KY, and Stella Foyster of South Carolina, and by two grandchildren, Chance Damron of Hurricane, KY. and Brody Damron of Johns Creek. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2008, after 6 p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 12 Noon at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Fred Clapka and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Johnson Memorial Park at Pikeville. Special services will be held on Wednesday and Thursday nights at 7 p.m.
