Sarah Elizabeth Russell Little, age 88, of Betsy Layne, died on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at the Mt. View Health Care Center in Elkhorn City, Ky. Elizabeth retired from McDowell ARH Hospital as a lab tech. She was a member of the Wheelwright Chapter of the Eastern Star, the Betsy Layne DAV Auxillary, the Van Lear Historical Society, and the Betsy Layne Senior Citizens. Elizabeth was born November 11, 1920 at Van Lear, the daughter of the late Rose and Ed Russell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Little of Wheelwright, and a brother, Ed Russell Jr. of Lakeland, Fl., She is survived by one brother, Luther Russell of West Van Lear, two sons, Jerry (Sarah) Simpson of Hager Hill, Stephen (Susan) Little of Lexington, one daughter, Carolyn (Robert) Simpson Branham of Pikeville, one granddaughter, Ashley Leimer of Lexington, six grandsons, Chris Simpson of River, Todd Simpson of Taylorsville, Bradley Branham of North Carolina, Dustin Branham of Huntersville, N.C., and Alexander and Nathaniel Little both of Lexington, one great-grandson, Brock Simpson. In accordance with the request of Elizabeth, there will be a private burial service at Davidson Memorial Garden at Ivel. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Vogel-Day United Methodist Church of Harold.
