Celia B. Slone

Celia B. Slone, age 84, of Jonican, Ky. passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2009, at the Pikeville Medical Center. She was born on June 11, 1925, the daughter of the late John F. and Hattie P. Thacker. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Mitchell B. Slone, by a daughter, Pearlie Faye Slone, and by three brothers, Jimpy Thacker, Thaniel Thacker, and Berry Thacker. Celia had owned and operated a grocery store. She was also a member of the Little Flock Old Regular Baptist Church. She is survived by one daughter, Joanne Calton and husband Dale of Jonican, KY, by three sons, Johnnie Owen Slone and wife Lynne of Harrodsburg, KY, DAvid Mitchell Slone and wife Lisa of Jonican, KY, and Jimpy Dale Slone and wife Debbie of Lexington, KY, by two brothers, Theodore Thacker of Lorain, OH, and John Jr. Thacker of Harold, KY, by three sisters, Nancy Jane Slone of Hurricane, KY, Bernie Layne of Pikeville, KY, and Polly Slone of Jonican, KY, by ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2009, after 6 p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Lucas and Son Funeral Home with Old Regular Baptist Ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Thacker Family Cemetery. Special services will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday nights at 7 p.m.
