Willard Raymond Adkins

Willard Raymond Adkins, 82, of Cowpen Road, Pikeville passed away Friday, November 6, 2009 at Pikeville Medical Center. He was born June 13, 1927 to the late Angie Tackett Adkins and Wetzel Adkins. Willard was a heavy equipment operator for John Jack Adkins Construction Co. He was of the Church of Christ faith and a Merchant Marine. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one infant son, five brothers, Carl, Elzie, Anthony Lee, Creed, and Willard Edward Adkins and also four sisters, Delcie Williams, Elizabeth Cooley, Nanevah Meade, and Nellie Cappozzoli. He is survived by his wife, Audrey Justice Adkins, one son, Larry Adkins of Arizona and one daughter, Loretta Adkins of Pikeville, KY, and a step daughter, Caroline Justice of Lexington, KY. He also leaves behind one sister, Fannie Bowling of Pikeville, KY, five grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, one step grandchild, and one step great grandchild along with a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be after 6 P.M. Sunday, November 8, at the Lucas and Son Funeral Home. There will be special services Sunday and Monday at 7 P.M. Funeral services will be at 1 P.M. Tuesday, November 10, and burial will follow at the Adkins Family Cemetery in Cowpen, KY. Dean Lyons will be officiating.
