Virginia Newsome

Virginia Newsome, age 89, of Bear Fork, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2010, in Chapel Hill, NC. She was born on June 15, 1920, the daughter of the late Harvey George and Debbie Damron Newsome. She was also preceded in death by her husband Darling Newsome, by four brothers, Hillard, Willard, Burnie, and Virnel Newsome. Virginia was a homemaker and a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church. She is survived by three daughters, Juanita Smith of Ray City, GA, Shirley Newsome of London, OH, and Hester Hannah of Pikeville, KY, by five sons, Virnel Newsome of Colorado, Lester Newsome of London, OH, Vester Newsome of New Albany, OH, Chester Newsome of Pikeville, KY and Elster Newsome of Williamson, WV, by one brother, Jason Newsome of Hendersonville, NC, by four sisters, Zella Tackett of Price, KY, Esther Smith of Bull Head City, AZ, Flo Reedy of Bull Head City, AZ, and Golden Haller of Bull Head City, AZ, by fourteen grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2010, after 4 p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Dewey Roberts, Gale Brown and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery. Special services will be held on Saturday and Sunday nights at 7 p.m.
