Lewis G. Slone age 84 passed away Friday Dec. 4th, 2009 at the Hospice Center in North Carolina. Lewis was born on January 6th, 1925 to his parents the late John A. Slone and Dixie Farley Slone. He was the husband of the late Vivian Justice Slone, a retired teacher for the Pike County Board of Education, a member of the Elkhorn City D.A.V., and a member of the First Church of God of Lick Creek. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Along with his wife and parents, Lewis was preceded in death by two brothers, three sisters, and one grandchild. Lewis is survived by three sons, John Thomas Slone of Granite Falls, N.C., Gary Slone of Charlotte,N.C., Joseph Slone of Louisville, Ky., one daughter, Ruth Carol Slone of Lenoir, N.C., one sister, Jesse Bartley of Columbus, Ohio, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Saturday 12/05/2009 at 6p.m. at the First Church of God of Lick Creek. Special services will be Sunday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Monday 12/07/2009 at 1p.m. at the First Church of God of Lick Creek with Kathy Cantrell officiating. The burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery.
