Ray Vene Spears

Ray Vene Spears, age 79 passed away Monday, April 12th, 2010 at his home. Ray was born on April 3rd, 1931 to his parents the late Earl Spears and Bamie Thacker Spears. He was the husband of the late Irene Coleman Spears, a retired laborer mine foreman for Republic Steel, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Pikeville. Along with his wife and parents, Ray Vene was preceded in death by two brothers, three brothers, Paul, Randal, and Artemus, and two sisters, Faye Dell and Octavia. Ray Vene is survived by two sons, Joseph (Sharon) Spears of Pikeville, Michael (Glenda) Spears of Pikeville, two daughters, Deborah (Jack) Sykes of Pikeville, Sandra (Mike) Justice of Pikeville, two brothers, William Otis (Andrea) Spears, of Custer, Wisc., Robie Spears of Louisville, Ky., and two sisters, Loretta (Dave) Sanders and Gloria Jean (Palmer) Adkins. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends who will miss him dearly. Visitation will be at the Lucas and Son Funeral Home after 6 P.M. Thursday, April 15th. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 17th at 2 P.M. with Paul Badgett officiating. Burial will follow at the Annie E. Young Cemetery.
