Nellie Jane Hamilton Newsome

Nellie Jane Hamilton Newsome, age 91, of Pikeville, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Clark and Maggie Thacker Hamilton. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lonza Newsome, by two sons, Bobby Newsome and Scott Newsome, seven brothers, Bert, Raymond, Clark, Jr, Earl, Clyde, Clarence, and Smith Hamilton, and by two grandchildren. She was a homemaker and member of the Caney Creek Old Regular Baptist Church. She is survived by three sons, Clyde Newsome of Peninsula, OH, Millard Newsome of Robinson Creek, KY, and Jimmy Newsome of Pikeville, KY, by two daughters, Shirley Branham of Akron, OH and JoAnn Little of Virgie, KY, by one brother, Millard Hamilton of Pikeville, KY, by one sister, Effie Mullins of Jonancy, KY, by 21 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April, 16, 2008, after 6 p.m., at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Old Regular Baptist Ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Newsome Family Cemetery. Special services will be held on Wednesday and Thursday nights at 7 p.m.
