Johnny Syck, age 57, of Poor Bottom, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2009, at his residence. He was born on February 26, 1952, the son of the late Lawrence and Vera Thompson Syck. Johnny had worked as a truck driver for Jones Oil Company. He was also a member of the Poor Bottom Freewill Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Syck, by two daughters, Johndra Tackett of Dorton, Ky and Renee Thacker of Burning Fork, by four brothers, Donnie Syck of Poor Bottom, Freddie Syck of Michigan, Danny Syck of Pikeville, and David Syck of North Carolina, by two sister, Daryle Ronning of Pikeville and Inestine Harvey of Alaska, and by five grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 4, 2009, after 6 p.m. at the Poor Bottom Freewill Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. at the Poor Bottom Freewill Baptist Church with Richard Gibson and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Lester Carl Tackett Cemetery. Special services will be held on Saturday and Sunday nights at 7 p.m.
