Derek Shawn Hopkins

Derek Shawn Hopkins, age 16, of Greasy Creek, passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2008, at his residence after a long battle with cancer. He was born on April 10, 1992, the son of Sheila Hopkins. In addition to his mother, he is also survived by two brothers, Shane David Slone and Basil Dacoda Keene, by one sister, Sheena Kaye Slone, by two special brothers, Alfred Kendrick and Kenny Bentley, and by three special sisters, Cheyenne Kendrick, Kendra Kendrick, and Sasha Gillespie. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 1, 2008, after 6 p.m. at the Greasy Creek Freewill Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Greasy Creek Freewill Baptist Church with Jimmy Jack Adkins and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Hopkins Cemetery at Greasy Creek. Special services will be held on Friday and Saturday nights at 7 p.m.
