Hazel Louise Shumate

Hazel Louise Shumate, 89 of Greasy Creek, KY passed away Sunday, June 7, 2009 at the Pikeville Medical Center. She was born November 5, 1919 to the late Emma and Basil Rowe. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ford Shumate, five brothers, Russel, John, Charlie, Ralph, and Babe Rowe, and also one sister, Reabeh Rowe. Surviving Hazel are two sons, Ford Shumate Jr. of Chloe, KY, and Johnny Shumate of Greasy Creek, KY, and a daughter Janice Louise Moore of Lexington, KY. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Johnny Dewayne Shumate, Rob Moore, Kimberly Foltz, Shelley Shumate, Dee Dee Branham, Chris Shumate, Jeremy Shumate, and Tonya Shumate, along with three great grandchildren. Visitation for Mrs. Shumate will be Tuesday June 9, 2009 at 6 PM at Lucas and Son Funeral Home. Special services will be Tuesday and Wednesday at 7p.m. at the Lucas & Son funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Thursday June 11, 2009 at 1 PM, also at Lucas and Son Funeral Home with Don Lee, Morgan Chapman, and Tommy England officiating.
