Alice Griffith

Alice Marie Hunt Griffith, age 86, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Pikeville Medical Center.     Alice was born at Freeburn, Ky on September 19, 1932 to the late Clell Hunt Senior and Rosie Robinette Hunt.  She was a retired dietary director at Grundy Hospital in Grundy, Va.       In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 and a half years of marriage Edwin M. Griffith; three sisters, Mildred Hunt, Stella Abshire, and Geraldine Colley; two brothers, Eugene (Clifford) Hunt and John Will Hunt; one grandson, Michael Kevin Fields, one son in law, Eugene Fields; and one great granddaughter, Madison Bailee Frederick.      Alice is survived by two sons, Eddie D. (Kathy) Griffith, and William K. "Tattoo" (Becky) Griffith, five daughters, Rosenell (Eugene ) Fields, Patty (Billy) Freeman, Clara (Worley) Taylor, Patricia (Tish) Griffith, Angela (Stephen) Burchett; ten grandchildren, Keith (Vivian) Fields, Michelle (Chris) Frederick, Alicion Freeman Slone, Tabitha (Adam) Stoll, Jessica (Jeremy) Radar, Bill (Geri) Freeman, Natasha Nicole (Kyle) Pierson, Korey Fields, Mason Griffith, Maria Griffith; eight great grandchildren, Jacob (Becky) Fields, Kristina Fields, Michael Fields, Christin Frederick, Greyson Radar, Caroline Slone, Matthew Stoll, Kithius Pierson, two great great grandchildren, Adalyn Faith Fields, Kinsley Fields, three sisters, Ocie (Jimmy) Owens, Vannie (Eugene) Miltimore, Piney (Lenville) Mullins; one brother Clell (Barbara) Hunt Jr., and a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family friends and neighbors who will miss her dearly.     Special thanks to Heather Sullivan for her loving care of our precious mother.  We thank everyone for their prayers and visitations.  We also want to thank Dr. Samuel King and his staff, all of the doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, physical, occupational, and respiratory therapists, laboratory personnel, cafeteria personnel, and other members of the hospital staff at PMC who showed compassion to our mother and family and rendered excellent care.     Visitation will be Saturday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home.  The funeral will be Sunday, June 2, 2019 at 1p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Lloyd Holland officiating.   Burial will follow in the Mt. Valley Memorial Gardens at Big Rock, Va.
