Arnold "Dempsey" Adkins, age 81, passed away Monday, October 15, 2018 at his home. Dempsey was born on May 8, 1937 to his parents the late Tom Adkins and Cindia Blair Adkins. He was the husband of the late Marlene Causey Adkins, a retired coal miner, former furniture store owner, and he also served his country honorably in the United States Army. Along with his wife and parents, Dempsey was preceded in death by one son, Rodney Arnold Adkins, one daughter, Cindia Lou Adkins, six brothers, Jonah, Jene Paul, Vaultress, Palmer, Kelsviev, Blake, and three sisters, Gladys, Hazel, and Mona. Dempsey is survived b four daughters, Valerie (Bo) Keene, Linda (Jason) Stanley, Patricia (Donald) Akers, Betty (James) Justice, two sons, Jason (Chastity) Adkins, David Justice, twenty two grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Tuesday and Wednesday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 1p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Jimmy Jack Adkins and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery.
