Arvid Tibbs

Arvid Tibbs age 92, of Pikeville, Ky passed away Friday, April 27, 2018 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Arvid was born in Pike County on February 14, 1926 to his parents the late Tom Tibbs and Alice Stevens Tibbs. Arvid was retired from the Pepsi Bottling Company with 40 years of service. He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union and a member of the Grassy Freewill Baptist Church.  Arvid was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Estill Tibbs, Elster Tibbs, three sisters, Cora Mullins, Dolly Keene, Mary Scott and one Great Grandson, Colby Bee Tibbs. Arvid is survived by his wife Necie Tibbs, two sons, Lester Tibbs, (Maybell), Denver Tibbs and one daughter, Betty Ann Tibbs. He is also survived by one brother, Ira Tibbs (Hazel) one sister, Marie Thacker (Chester); six grandchildren, Roger Bee Tibbs, Jessica Megan Tibbs, David Lee Tibbs, Paul David Blankenship, Amos Eugene Blankenship and Arthur Blankenship, Jr.; one Great Granddaughter, Khoie McKae Maynard.Visitation will be Sunday, April 29, 2018, 6:00 PM at the Grassy Freewill Baptist Church. Church services will be Sunday and Monday night at 7:00 PM. Funeral will be Tuesday, May 1, 2018, 1:00 PM at the Grassy Freewill Baptist Church with Lester Morris, Ronnie Webb, Larry Goff, Kyle Lowe, and Lester Tibbs officiating.  Burial will follow in the R.H. Ratliff Cemetery at Shelbiana, KY.
