Bobby Joe Akers

Bobby Joe Akers, age 62, of Dorton, KY, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at the Pikeville Medical Center. He was born on July 26, 1958, the son of the late Noah and Dora Flannery Akers. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Chris Akers and by three sisters, Jeanette Elkins, Sherry Lynn Akers and Elaine Gilpin. Before his retirement, Bobby was the maintenance manager for the Shasta Beverage Company and was of the Old Regular Baptist faith. Bobby is survived by his wife, Tina Hopson Akers, by two sons, Robert Jason Akers and Bobby Curtis (Cora Beth) Akers, by two brothers, Curtis Akers and Crit Akers, by six sisters, Erlene Morrison, Sylvia Termini, Louise Anderson, Loretta Akers, Dawn Webb and Nellie Little, and by four grandchildren, Lillian Rose Akers, Lucas Gabriel Akers, Klayton Noah Akers and Harrison Wayne Akers. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at 5 pm at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Sunday evening at 7 pm with Old Regular Baptist Ministers officiating.
