Bobby Gene Smith

Pikeville, KY

Bobby Gene Smith, 81 years of age, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Center in Hazard, Kentucky.  He was born on May 19, 1943 to his parents the late Kenneth Leonard Smith and Alpha Thomas Smith.  Bobby Gene was the husband of Brenda Kiser Smith, and they were married for sixty two years.   Bobby was a retired engineer for CSX Railroad for over 33 years, and a Deacon of Dorton Old Regular Baptist Church.  He served his country honorably in the United States Army for seven years and served a tour of Vietnam and he was also a member of the Johns Creek D.A.V.

     Along with his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by one daughter, Kimberly Beth Smith, two brothers, Kermit H. Smith and Dick Shelton Smtih.

     Along with his wife, Bobby is survived by two daughters, Katrina (Sam) Blackburn, Jennifer Beth (Steve) Charles, one grandson, Zachariah Lee Blackburn,  and a host of loving family and friends.

    Visitation will be Friday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home.  Church services will be Friday at 7p.m.  The funeral will be Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 1p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Robbie Osborne officiating.  Burial will follow in the R.H. Ratliff Cemetery at Shelbiana, Ky.
