Burnus Gene Ramsey, age 76, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018 at the East Ky. Veteran Center in Hazard, Ky. Burnus was born on Feb. 6, 1942 to his parents the late Tom Ramsey and Opal Compton Ramsey. Burnus was a retired coal miner, truck driver, a member of the Church of Christ, and he also served his country honorably in the United States Marines. Along with his parents, Burnus was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters. Burnus is survived by one son, Bert (Tracy) Ramsey, one daughter, Teresa Gale Gleason, one brother, Homer (Lou) Ramsey, two sisters, Stella Mae Gaulke, Molly Lou Ramsey, five grandchildren, Emily Gleason, Krystle Ramsey, Tony Larson, Matthew Gleason, Jacob Gleason, three great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Friday at 6p.m. at the Island Creek Old Regular Baptist Church. Church services will be Friday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Island Creek Old Regular Baptist Church with Leonard Hamilton and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Howell Cemetery at Island Creek.
