Charles Kermit Bentley, age 85, passed away Monday, July 15, 2019 at the Pikeville Nursing Home. Kermit was born on Feb. 9, 1934 to his parents the late Jimmie C. Bentley and Stella Damron Bentley. Kermit was the husband of Lila Sue Kelly Bentley, a retired coal miner, and a member of the Elizabeth Old Regular Baptist Church at Ford's Branch. He was an avid hunter and loved fox hunting. He also loved to garden and was a bee keeper. Along with his parents, Kermit was preceded in death by five brothers, Leon, Billy, Melvin, Ronald, and Donald Bentley. Along with his wife, Kermit is survived by one daughter, Mary Carolyn May of Robinson Creek, Ky., three sons, Charles Douglas (Pam) Bentley of Florence, South Carolina, James Otis Bentley of Tennessee Ridge, Tn., Gregory Neil (Sarah) Bentley of Pikeville, Ky., one brother, Curtis Ell Bentley, three sisters, Nona Breland, Molly Osborne, Betty Hobson, nine grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Wednesday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Wednesday and Thursday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Friday, July 19, 2019 at 11a.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Old Regular Baptist Ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery.
