David Michael "Joe" Hoffer, age 75, passed away Friday, Dec. 30, 2022 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Joe was born on Dec. 30 1947 to his parents the late Charles Jefferson Hoffer and Attielee Griffith Hoffer. Joe was the husband of Darlene Mullins Hoffer, a retired electrician in the coal mines, a member of the UMWA, and a member of the Elkhorn City Baptist Church. Joe was an avid drag racer and he loved his race cars. He was a devoted husband, father, uncle, and friend to all who knew him. He was so loved. Along with his parents, Joe was preceded in death by one daughter, Anissa Regina Hoffer (she passed away in 1993), and one half sister, Mary Catherine Wheeling. Along with his wife, Darlene, Joe is survived by his uncle, Billy Griffith, Nephews, Ronnie (Mary Jane) Wheeling, Mike (Karen) Wheeling, his cousins, Randy (Patty) Griffith, Patty (Donnie) Griffith, Sandy (Darrell) Hurley, Linda (Dennis) McCoy, Anita (Jerry) Stewart, Jan (Tom) McClure, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at 12 Noon at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 1p.m. on Tuesday with Richard Green and Jason Johnson officiating. Entombment will be at Annie E. Young Mausoleum at Shelbiana.
