Delena Branham Prater

Delena Branham Prater, age 79 of Shelbiana, Ky. passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024 in Cynthiana, KY.  Delena was born on September 9, 1944, the daughter of the late Jay and Selena May Branham.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James Lloyd "Hook" Prater, and by two grandchildren, Asa Allen, Michael Lloyd Prater, by two brothers, Harry and Wade Branham and two sisters, Linda Gail Adkins and Barbara Branham.

Before her retirement, Delena had been a teachers aide at Greasy Creek Grade School and was a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Donna Allen and Anita (Rick) O'Bryan, by two sons Jim Prater and Lloyd (Holly) Prater, by a brother, Ordie Branham, by two sisters, Janice Rowe and Dorothy Adkins, by seven grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren with one on the way.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 8, after 6 PM at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 AM at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Teddy Honaker and others officiating.  Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery at Shelbiana.

Special services will be held on Monday and Tuesday evening at 7 PM
