Douglas M. Belcher, age 82, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2025 at his home in Pound, Virginia. Douglas was born on January 1, 1943 to his parents the late Homer Belcher and Nora Elkins Belcher. Douglas was the husband of Rita Bolling Belcher, a retired coal miner, carpenter, and an avid gardener. He was a member of the Dorton General Baptist Church and he served his country honorably in the United States Army.
Along with his parents, Douglas was preceded in death by the mother of his four sons: Jackie Lois Belcher, his second wife, Judy Anderson Belcher, and two brothers, Jerry Wayne Belcher and Ronnie Belcher.
Along with his wife, Douglas is survived by four sons, Doug (Chaltel) Belcher Jr., Donnie (Mary Ann) Belcher, David Lee (Missy) Belcher, Darrell (Alicia) Belcher, one brother, William Belcher, one sister, Bonnie Belcher, eleven grandchildren, Robert, Ashley, Taylor, Dakota, Matthew, Mason, David, Zack, Cody, Jacob, and Jasper, ten great grandchildren, one sister in law: Ann Baker, one brother in law: Lawrence (Sandra) Bolling, and a host of loving family and friends.
Visitation will be Friday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Friday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025 at 11 A.M. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with James Johnson, Clyde Bentley, Richie Gibson, and Mike Newsome officiating. Burial will follow in the Belcher Cemetery at Blaze Branch.
