Emma Lee Akers

Emma Lee Howell Akers, age 73, passed away Monday, Sept. 4, 2023 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Emma was born on November 3, 1949 to her parents the late Noble Howell and Betty Howell. She was the wife of the late Ray Akers, a retired respiratory therapist for Pikeville Medical Center for over 35 years, and a member of the Amazing Grace Worship Center. Along with her husband and parents, Emma was preceded in death by one son, Brian Matthew Akers, one sister, Lou Verde "Birdie" Howell, one brother, Leslie Howell. Emma is survived by one son, Daniel (Diane) Akers, two brothers, Orville Howell, Levi Howell, one granddaughter, Lauren Alexus Carroll, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Thursday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Thursday and Friday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023 at 1p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Brothers in Christ officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery at Shelbiana, Ky.
