Eugene Thacker, age 84, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Eugene was born on January 31, 1936 to his parents the late Fred Thacker and Nell Branham Thacker. He was the husband of Bobbie Bryant Thacker, a retired factory worker, and a member of the Cow Creek Freewill Baptist Church. Eugene was a Ky. Colonel and he also served his country honorably in the United States Army. Along with his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by two sons, Alex Holland and Eric Holland, four brothers, Rayvene, Robert, Lester, and Jimmy Thacker, and one sister, Earline Thacker. Along with his wife, Eugene is survived by one son, Larry Dale Thacker, three daughters, Emma Sue (Rudy) Hendrickson, Kimberly (Kurk) Schmitz, Joyce Holland (Jessie) Ricketts, three special friends, Joey Meade, Doug & Jan Salisbury, one brother, Raymond Thacker, three sisters, Faye Taylor, Shirley Fields, Shelly Adkins, nine grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Friday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Friday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 1p.m. at the Lucas and Son Funeral Home with Nathan Lafferty officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery.
