Evangelist Robert Lee Hampton, age 86, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2024 at the Pikeville Medical Center. He was born on Nov. 18, 1937 to his parents the late Hassel Hampton and Dessie Johnson Hampton. He was the husband of Jackie Tackett Hampton. They were married May 23, 1959, and he was self-employed owner of Long Fork Auto Parts, packaged ice along with various other self employed jobs. Robert gave his life to Christ and was baptized in 1983 into the Freewill Baptist church. He started evangelizing in June 1985 went on to become an Evangelist and Minister for over 40 years traveling many states and churches. He was a witness to many people distributing hundreds of tracks along the way. Even as sick as he was he witnessed to nurses and doctors telling them he was ready to go home. He wanted everyone saved and ready to meet Jesus!
Along with his parents, Robert was preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Tackett and Ruby Dike.
Along with his wife, Robert is survived by two daughters, Robin (Randy) Hughes, Sheila Hampton Hall, one brother, Leo (Sue) Hampton, one sister, Ola Mae Hampton, four grandchildren, Josh Hughes, Isaac Hall, Isaiah Hall, and Sarah (Robert) Bradnock, three great grandchildren, Xander Hughes, Jaime Hall, Eliza Valentine, and a host of loving family and friends.
Visitation will be Sunday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Sunday and Monday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at 1P.M. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Les Sizemore, John Allen, Roger Johnson, and Charles Gearhart officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery.
