Fannie Smith Layne, age 84, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2018 at her home. She was born on January 17, 1934 to her parents the late Noah Smith and Zella Coleman Smith. She was the wife of Lee Layne, a homemaker, and a member of the Cedar Bottom Old Regular Baptist Church. Along with her parents, Fannie was preceded in death by one daughter, Eileen Varney, three brothers, Cecil, Sawyer, and Wilbur Smith, and one sister, Melva Layne. Along with her husband, Lee, Fannie is survived by four children, Madelene (Paul) Coleman, Ronnie (Melissa) Layne, Kathleen (Eddie) Pugh, Geraldine (Clifton) Preece, one sister, Lassie Coleman, two brothers, Floyd Smith, Alfred Smith, ten grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Tuesday and Wednesday at 7p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. The funeral will be Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 12 noon at the Cedar Bottom Old Regular Baptist Church at Kimper with A.B. Thacker, Harold Coleman, Doug Thompson, Herman West, Jerry Overstreet, Garfield Thacker, Jimmy Dale Sanders, James Tackett, and Ted Honaker officiating. Burial will follow in the Layne Cemetery at Kimper, Ky.
