Gomer Bartley

Gomer Bartley, age 83, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at the Whitesburg ARH Hospital. Gomer was born on July 12, 1939 to his parents the late Amos Bartley and Mary Tackett Bartley. He was the husband of Ruby Wright Bartley, a retired welder, Construction worker, and heavy equipment operator. Gomer also served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a Kentucky Colonel, Dorton Fire fighter, and a believer of the Baptist Faith. Along with his parents, Gomer was preceded in death by one son, Dean Bartley, his twin brother, Homer Bartley, one brother, Jimmy Bartley, and two sisters, Kathleen Akers and Imogene Burks. Along with his wife, Gomer is survived by one son, Michael Bartley, one daughter, Misty (Scott) Lewis, one brother, Amos (Polly) Bartley Jr., three grandchildren, Nicholas Bartley, Savanna Compton, Brayden Newsome, Michael Ison, three great grandchildren, Penelope Brown, Piper Holbrook, Hudson Holbrook, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Thursday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Thursday and Friday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 1 P.M. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Carson Wright, Teddy Honaker, Barry Lucas, and others officiating.
