Gwendolyn "Gwen" Mullins Johnson, age 84, of Morehead, Ky., passed away Friday, December 13, 2019, at her home. She was born October 24, 1935, in Elkhorn City, in Pike County, a daughter of the late Lonnie and Garnett Ratliff Mullins. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Linda Johnson and Letha Flannery, and one brother, Clifford Mullins. Gwen is survived by her husband of 65 years, Homer D. Johnson, whom she married August 28, 1954; one daughter Kristi Johnson of Morehead; three sons, Ricky Johnson and Janet of Jeffersonville, Terry Johnson and Julie of Mt Sterling, and Randy Johnson and Kristen of Pikeville; seven grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren. Gwen is also survived by one brother, Estil Mullins of Elkhorn City, and one sister, Brenda Rowe of Wabash, Indiana, numerous nieces and nephew; extended family and friends. Gwen was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed homemaking and taking care of her family. In 1977, Gwen and her husband established the Oasis Market in Pikeville, which they owned until it changed to the Oasis Pawn Shop in 1992. For a number of years, Gwen and Homer owned a farm in Rowan County and moved to the farm permanently in 1984. Gwen loved the farm, being outdoors, 4-whelling, and enjoying nature. She was a member of Holly Fork Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed attending church and loved her church family. Gwen will be greatly miss by all. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 17, 2019, 6:00PM to 9:00 PM at Lucas and Son Funeral Home, Pikeville, Ky. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 18, 2019, 11:00 AM at the Lucas and Son Funeral Home with Brother Monroe Craig officiating. Burial will follow in Johnson Memorial Park, Pikeville, Ky.
