Jackie Ronald Sowards

Jackie Ronald Sowards, age 70 of Jonancy, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024 at his residence.  He was born on December 12, 1953, to his parents the late James Sowards and Hannah Gibson Sowards.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by six sisters, Lou Sowards, Laura Sowards, Vanita Harris, Reba Sowards, Alpha McCoy and Martha Keller and by 8 brothers, Morgan Sowards, Elmer Sowards, Edvin Sowards, Oscar Sowards, Cecil Sowards, Victor Sowards, James Rufus Sowards and Ralph Sowards and by a Great Grandchild, Evie Mae Thacker Adkins.

Before his retirement, Jackie was school bus driver for the Pike County Board of Education.

He is survived by one son, Jackie Ronald (Donnetta) Sowards, Jr., two daughters, Aleshia (Mike) Stevens and Laura (Jonathan) Tackett, by a brother, Harrison (Lori) Sowards and by two sisters, Wilma (Roy) Johnson and Eunice (Maynard) Brown, by six grandchildren, Hunter Bevins, Dalton Adkins, Charlie Adkins, Kassidy Hobbs, Isabella Sowards and Dylan Sowards and by two great grandchildren, Shylo Adkins and Huxley Gregory. and by his ex-wife, Patty Sowards.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 28, after 6 pm at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 29, at 7 pm at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Gary Hall officiating.

Special Services will be held on Sunday and Monday nights at 7 pm.
