James Franklin Stewart, age 80, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2022 at the Bluegrass Hospice Center in Hazard, Ky. James was born on July 27, 1941 to his parents Viola Newsome Stewart and the late Frank Stewart. He was the husband of Joyce Lashbrook Stewart, a member of the Faith First Baptist Church at Jimmy's Creek, and an accomplished pianist. James was an entrepreneur, owning his own hydraulic company in West Palm Beach, Florida, then he went on to own a contracting company. Along with his father, James was preceded in death by one brother, Freddie Stewart, and a brother in law, Morgan Smith. Along with his wife and mother, James is survived by two sons, James Franklin (Denise) Stewart Jr. of Oxford, Michigan, Stephen Gregory Stewart of Cincinnati, Ohio, his mother and father in law, Robert and Velta Lashbrook of Indiana, two brothers, Harold Stewart of Ferrells Creek, Ky., Gary Stewart of Venters, Ky., three sisters, Margaret Smith of West Palm Beach, Florida, Mary (David) Howell of Lewis County, Ky., Deborah (William) Cortes of Lookout, Ky., two grandchildren, James Michael Stewart, Megan Stewart, and a host of loving family and friends. A Memorial Service has been scheduled for Sunday, July 24, 2022, 6:00 PM, at the Faith First Baptist Church with Randy Bentley officiating.
