Meryl (J.E.) Thornsbury, age 78, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2020 at the Pikeville Medical Center. J.E. was born on Feb. 12, 1941 to his parents the late Kanawha Thornsbury and Draxie Blackburn Thornsbury. He was the husband of the late Mildred Justice Thornsbury, a retired mechanic, and a member of the Energyville Freewill Baptist Church. Along with his wife and parents, J.E. was preceded in death by one grandson, Brandon Thornsbury, one brother, Ernest Thornsbury, and two sisters, Mirkie Bentley, and Mabel Damron. J.E. is survived by one daughter, Tammy (Steve) Mullins, one son, Chad (Vickie) Thornsbury, three brothers, Ralph (Ida Mae) Thornsbury, Arnold (Cathy) Thornsbury, Veral (Hazel) Thornsbury, three sisters, Mattie Bentley, Shirley Iverson, Hattie Bentley, one grandson, Ryan (Karrisa) Thornsbury, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Saturday at 12 noon at the Energyville Freewill Baptist Church. Church services will be Saturday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Sunday, January 26, 2020 at 12 noon at the Energyville Freewill Baptist Church with David Bentley, Dalton Tackett, and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Potter Cemetery at Yeager.
