Jewette Reid :"J.R." Thacker, age 74, passed away Saturday May 11, 2024 at his home. Jewette was born on Sept. 26, 1949 to his parents the late Jewette Thacker Sr. and Vicy Dales Thacker. He was the husband of Pattie Sue Adkins Thacker. J.R. was a retired track man for CSX Railroad Company, a believer of the baptist faith, and he also served his country honorably in the United States Marines.
Along with his parents, J.R. was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Thacker and Jack Thacker, and four sisters: Ruby Jean Thacker, Juanita Harmon, Lorell Thacker, and Teresa Griggs.
Along with his wife, J.R. is survived by one daughter, Janet Renea (John Gerretson) Thacker, one sister, Pauline Huffman, three brothers, Leon Thacker, Phillip Thacker, Eddie Dean Thacker, two granddaughters, Katrina Estep, Kayla (Kevin) Abbott, four great grandchildren, Madison Stokes, Parker Slone, Benjamin Slone, Everly Abbott, and a host of loving family and friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Singing services will be Tuesday and Wednesday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 1p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Neil Coleman officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery at Shelbiana, Ky.
