Jimmie Jack Coleman, age 91, passed away due to complications from a heart attack on Monday, Feb. 12, 2024 at his home, surrounded by family. Jimmie Jack (lovingly known as daddy and Papa Jim) was born on January 18, 1933 to his parents the late Rufus D. Coleman and Carmel Green Coleman. He was the husband of the late Nellie Arnold Coleman, a retired coal miner, and a member of the Little Hattie Old Regular Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, who served in the Korean War. He loved outdoors more than anything. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and loved gardening. He was a craftsman and loved to work with wood. He always said he was a jack of all trades and master of none.
Along with his parents, Jimmie Jack was preceded in death by his latest wife of 31 years, Margaret Coleman,his first wife of 34 years, Nellie Mae Coleman, two brothers, Kent Douglas Coleman and Walter Coleman, and one sister, Pauline Anderson, one daughter, Anne Jackson, his granddaughter, Kimberly Coleman.
Jimmie Jack is survived by two sons, Michael Wayne Coleman, Jamie (Mandy) Coleman, one brother, Johnnie (Carolyn) Coleman, one sister, Gloria Mullins, six grandchildren, Greg and Nikkie Jackson, Michelle, M. Wayne, Elizabeth Ann Coleman, and Jacie Coleman, ten great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Thursday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Friday, Feb. 16, 2024 at 1 P.M. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Jimmy Dale Sanders, Jackie Robinson, and Frank Coleman officiating. Burial will follow in the Justice Cemetery at Laurel Branch of Marrowbone.
