Jimmy Edward Oakes, age 82, passed away Monday, Nov. 2, 2020 at his home. Jimmy was born on April 2, 1938 to his parents the late Rev. Millard Oakes and Georgia Ball Oakes. Jimmy was the husband of Anna Lea Dorton Oakes, a retired coal miner, and a member of the Hylton Freewill Baptist Church. Along with his parents, Rev. Millard and Georgia Oakes, Jimmy was preceded in death by one grandson, Shawn Michael Osborne, and one sister, Barbara Faye Lucas. Along with his wife, Jimmy is survived by twelve children, Tony (Jane) Oakes, Tammy Oakes, Tommy (Darlene) Oakes, Timothy Oakes, Sherry (Adam) Oakes, Michael Osborne, Jamey Oakes, Robert (Nikki) Oakes, Julia Oakes, Devin Oakes, Kyle Oakes, Isabella Oakes, one brother, Fred Oakes, one sister, Doris Hensley, twenty one grandchildren, Tony, Darla, Tony Jr, Eryn, Craig, Candi, Amber, Dylan, Morgan, Bailey, Cheyenne, Tim Jr., Austin, Cheyenne, Corey, Shawn Michael, Zachary, Jessica, John Logan, Victoria, and Lucas, several great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Tuesday and Wednesday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Thursday, November 5, 2020 at 1p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Craig Carter, Barry Carter, and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakes Family Cemetery at Dorton, Ky.
