Joan Newsome

Joan Damron Newsome age 90, passed away Monday, May 6, 2019 at her home.  Joan was born on August 29, 1928 to her parents the late Bertram Damron and Ella Tackett Damron.  She was the wife of the late Butler Newsome, a homemaker, and a member of the Little Creek Old Regular Baptist Church.     Along with her husband and parents, Joan was preceded in death by three brothers, Haskel, Fred, and Johnny Damron and one infant brother, three sisters, Nella Mae Bartley, Christine Damron, and Mary Jane Damron.      Joan is survived by one daughter, Sharlene (Cecil) Moberly, one son, Butler Eugene (Cathy) Newsome, one brother, Eugene (Anna G.) Damron, three grandchildren, Kimberly Nash, Ambria Ray, Sara Elizabeth Newsome, three great grandchildren, Jacob Ray, Luke Ray, and Randi Lauren Osborne, and a host of loving family and friends.     Visitation will be Thursday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home.  Church services will be Thursday and Friday at 7p.m.  The funeral will be Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 12 noon at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Teddy Honaker and others officiating.  Burial will follow in the Potter Cemetery at Yeager.
