John Taylor, 84, of Dix Fork, Sidney, Ky went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, March 7, at Pikeville Medical Center. John was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving in Germany on a nuclear missile base during the era of the Cuban Missile Crisis. John was a retired tipple operator for Eastern Coal Co. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kelsey and Alice Taylor; four brothers, Junior Taylor, William Jefferson "Boshy" Taylor, Theodore "Tedo" Taylor, and Lonnie James Taylor; and one beloved son, John Christopher Taylor. He is survived by his loving wife Kathy Lynn Taylor. Survivors include two daughters, Angela McKinney of Dunn, NC, and Savannah Grace Cochran of Canada, Ky; a very special grandson Silas Dylan Thompson of Canada, Ky; and granddaughter Tasha Taylor of Independence, Ky. He also leaves behind nieces Judy (Saul) Noble, Michell (Terry) Spencer, and a very special nephew Todd (Tiffany) Taylor; and a host of friends and family. Arrangements are under the direction of Lucas & Son Funeral Home of Pikeville. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Friday, March 10 from 6 until 10pm. Military rites will be conducted at 6:30pm in the parking lot of Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will begin at 7pm, with preaching and singing under the direction of Old Regular Baptist preachers. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 11 at 1:00pm at the Pilgrim Home Old Regular Baptist Church, Brushy, Ky, and burial will follow at the John Christopher Taylor Cemetery at Dix Fork, Sidney, Ky. Graveside services will be provided by members of the Old Regular Baptist Church. Dinner will be served at the Dix Fork Old Regular Baptist Church, Sidney, Ky after services have concluded.
