Johnny E. Hopson, age 81, passed away Monday, November 23, 2020 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Johnny was born on July 1, 1939 to his parents the late Forster Hopson and Florence Gibson Hopson. He was the husband of Julie Mullins Hopson, a retired welder for Manning Coal Company, and a member of the Dorton Old Regular Baptist Church. Along with his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by two brothers, James Hopson, Freeman Harrington, and one sister, Mabel Petralia. Along with his wife, Johnny is survived by four children, Tina Hopson Akers, Toni (John) Horton, Johnny D. (Veronica) Hopson, Virginia (Dean) Ray, one brother, Jimmy Hopson, three sisters, Ruby Lee Dutton, Elizabeth Stanley, Celia Hopson, ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. There will be a private family funeral.
