Kenneth Donovan Johnson

Kenneth Donovan Johnson, age 89, passed away Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024 at his home.  Kenneth was born on July 20, 1935 to his parents the late Benjamin Franklin Johnson and Virgie Cool Johnson.  He was the husband of Betty Jean Hamilton Johnson, a retired switching technician for Bellsouth and AT&T Telephone Companies, and he attended Buckfield Freewill Baptist Church.  Kenneth also served his country honorably in the United States Army.

     Along with his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Johnson, four brothers, Ray, Kelsey, Ed, and Larry Johnson, and three sisters, Gloria, Velma, and Neva.

     Along with his wife, Kenneth is survived by two sons, Anthony Johnson, Michael (Jessica) Johnson, two brothers, Jerry Johnson, Glenn (Shirley) Johnson, one sister, Shirley Tackett, five grandchildren, Hannah Dantzler, Jessica Johnson, Jonathan Johnson, Jennifer Thacker, Lamicah Kiser, five great grandchildren, Isaiah, Peyslie, Jackson, Jace, Kynlee, and a host of loving family and friends.

     Visitation will be Wednesday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home.  Church services will be Wednesday at 7p.m.  The funeral will be Thursday, Sept. 19, 2024 at 1p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Bruce Sawyers and Steve Spurlock officiating.  Burial will follow in the Johnson Memorial Park. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bluegrass Care Navigators (Hospice).
