Laura Lee Childers

Laura Lee Childers, age 91, of Burdine, Ky., passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2022, at the Pikeville Medical Center. Laura was born in Letcher County, Ky. on April 23, 1931, to her parents the late Clarence Boyd and Linda Ollie Potter Boyd. Laura was a Postmaster for more than 30 years for the United States Postal Service. She was a member of the Hylton Freewill Baptist Church at Shelby Gap, she was a member of the Ladies Auxilliary Club, Sunday School Teacher, Homemakers Club. Laura was the wife of the late Kenneth Earl Childers. Laura was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers, Phillip Boyd, James Lawrence Boyd, Winston Boyd, and Richard Boyd. Laura is survived by a son, Richard Gregory Childers (Glenda Sue), a brother, Wesley Bradford Boyd (Buerhetta), a sister, Celesta Lorene Brown (Harold). She is survived by two grandchildren, Amber Suzanne Emery (Nathan), Richard Todd Childers (Jodie), a great grandchild, Heather Emery and a host loving family and friends. Visitation for Laura will be Monday, July 25, 2022, 6:00 PM, at the Lucas and Son Funeral Home with services at 7:00 PM, Funeral will be Tuesday, July 26, 2022, 11:00 AM at the Hylton Freewill Baptist Church with Van Swindall officiating. Burial will follow in the Albert Childers Cemetery on KY 197.
