Laurene H. Ferrell

Laurene Howell Ferrell, age 76, of Wellington, Ky passed away peacefully at home on September 5, 2020, surrounded by family following a period of declining health. Laurene was born in Liberty Grove, Maryland, on December 4, 1943, she was the youngest daughter of Levi Howell and Amy Tackett Howell. Amy passed away when Laurene was 3 years old. Laurene Ferrell was the wife of Nolan Randall Ferrell, they had been married for 46 years and moved to Kentucky 18 years ago from Maryland. Laurene, who was beautiful inside and out, loved being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed her role as homemaker and one of her interests was raising beautiful African violets. Laurene was a retired nurse aide and was of the Baptist Faith. Laurene was preceded in death by her father, the Rev. Levi Howell, her mother, Amy Tackett, step mother, Vivienne Howell, two brothers, Ballard Howell and Larry Looney, a sister, Mary Absher, and a grandson, Michael Walker. In addition to her husband Nolan Randall Ferrell, she is survived by her sister, Ruby Gordon, Elkton, MD, three daughters,Vicky Graybeal, New Milford, NJ, Shawndell Sisler and Patricia Ervin, both of Wellington, Ky, six grandchildren, Steven Ferrell, Jeffrey Walker, Krystal Graybeal, Brandon Wyatt, Tyler Sisler and Faith Sisler, seven great grandchildren, many cousins and a host of family and friends. Visitation will be, Thursday, September 10, 2020, 6:00 PM at the Lucas and Son Funeral Home, with visitation and special music both Thursday and Friday nights. Funeral service will be, Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 1:00 PM at the Lucas and Son Funeral Home, with Luther Ray officiating. Burial will follow in the Howell Family Cemetery located on Coon Branch of Island Creek.
