Lillie Newsome Potter, age 92, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at the PIkeville Medical Center. Lillie was born on June 25, 1931 to her parents the late Harrison Newsome and Edna Houston Newsome. She was the wife of the late Ballard Potter, a homemaker, and a believer of the Old Regular Baptist Faith. Along with her husband and parents, Lillie was preceded in death by one daughter, Shelia Gaye Potter, and two brothers, George Newsome and Creed Newsome. Lillie is survived by five children, Rita (Tony) Mullins, Ballard (Charlene) Potter Jr., Phyllis (Stefon) Campbell, Terry (Christy) Potter, Sherry (Allen) Newsome, one brother, Arville Newsome, sister in law: Helen Newsome, six grandchildren, Tim (Ashtin) Bolden, Crystal Bolden, Kerry (Taylor) Newsome, Chad (Hope) Potter, Courtney Roberts, Ronnie Anderson, seven great grandchildren: Austin (Lexie) Bolden, Jayleigh Rose, Bayleigh Rose, Connor Rose, Brayden Bolden, Addie Bolden, Lyla Newsome, Phoenix Roberts, Azellia Roberts, two great great grandchildren, Luna Bolden and Layton Bolden, and a host of loving family and friends. We were so blessed to have mother for 92 years. Mother was a strong woman and the rock of our family. She loved family gathering and cooking a large meal for her family. She loved playing cornhole and all the grandchildren wanted to be her partner. Visitation will be Friday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Friday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Saturday, December 9, 2023 at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home at 1 P.M., with Teddy Honaker and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Potter Family Cemetery at Dorton.
