Lonnie Donald Akers

Lonnie Donald Akers, age 80, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018 at his home.  Lonnie was born on Dec. 19, 1937 to his parents the late Edgar Allen Akers and June Damron Akers.  Lonnie was the husband of Glenda Newsome Akers, a retired employee for Chapparel Coal Company and Big Sandy Wholesale, and a believer of the Old Regular Baptist Faith.    Along with his parents, Lonnie was preceded in death by one daughter, Vonda Lynn Akers, one brother, Ralph Akers, and one sister, Janet Tackett.     Along with his wife, Lonnie is survived by one daughter, Michelle (Brian) White, two brothers, Lowell and Sammy Akers, and a host of loving family and friends.    Visitation will be Tuesday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home.  Church services will be Wednesday at 7p.m.  The funeral will be Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 11a.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Barry Lucas, Ben Little, Robbie Osborne, Mike Justice, Teddy Honaker, and Tony Roberts officiating.  Burial will follow in the P.K. Damron Cemetery at Virgie, Ky.
