Luther Hopkins

Luther Hopkins, age 80, of Greasy Creek of Shelbiana, Ky., passed away Sunday, July 19, 2020 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Luther was born on June 16, 1940 to his parents the late John Calvin Hopkins and Mellie Hall Hopkins. He was the husband of the late Christine Adkins Hopkins, a retired coal miner for Scott's Branch Coal Company, and a member of the Greasy Creek Freewill Baptist Church. Along with his wife and parents, Luther was preceded in death by one son, Jackie Dale Hopkins, and several brothers and sisters. Luther is survived by six children, Annetta (James) Mullins, Luther Dwayne (Wanda) Hopkins, Louie David Hopkins, Brian Keith (Connie) Hopkins, Angela Larry) Justice, Christopher (Tabitha) Hopkins, two brothers, Lee Ray Hopkins, Joe Edward Hopkins, two sisters, Judy McCoy, Florine Nicholas, eighteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, family and friends. Visitation will be Monday at 6p.m. at the Greasy Creek Freewill Baptist Church. Church services will be Monday and Tuesday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at 1p.m. at the Greasy Creek Freewill Baptist Church with Jimmy Jack Adkins and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Hopkins Cemetery at Greasy Creek.
