Magdalene Lafferty

Mary Magdalene Adkins Lafferty, age 95, passed away Monday, May 10, 2021 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Magdalene was born on May 6, 1926, to her parents the late Harmon Dave "H.D." Thacker and Emma Effie Anderson Thacker. She was the wife of the late Johnny Lafferty, a retired cook for Millard Elementary School, and a believer of the Old Regular Baptist Faith. Along with her husband and parents, Magdalene was preceded in death by her first husband, Harry Blake Adkins, one son, Donald Blake Adkins, two grandsons, Billy Foster Coleman and Christopher Donald Adkins, two brothers, four sisters, and several step children. Magdalene is survived by three daughters, Mollie Sue (Frank Jr.) Thacker, Janice (Foster) Coleman, Ruth (A.B.) Thacker, her daughter in law, Diana Lynn Adkins, two step children, fifteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Wednesday at 6p.m. at the Philadelphia Old Regular Baptist Church. Church services will be Wednesday and Thursday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Friday, May 14, 2021 at 1p.m. at the Philadelphia Old Regular Baptist Church with Old Regular Baptist Ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Bevins Cemetery at mouth of lower pompey.
