Martha Slone

    Martha Slone, age 93, passed away Monday, Feb. 12, 2024 at her daughter's home in Stambaugh, Ky.  Martha was born on August 17, 1930 to William Henry Tackett and Roma Tackett.  She was the wife of Cecil Slone (would have celebrated 67 years this November).  She was retired employee from the Pike County Board of Education, and a believer of the Old Regular Baptist Faith.

     Along with her husband and parents, Martha was preceded in death by six brothers, six sisters, and their spouses.

     Martha is survived by three daughters, Peggy Horn of Stambaugh, Ky., Erma (Chris) Vanover of Archdale, N.C., Sherry Slone of Pikeville, Ky., two sons, William (Anna) Slone of Whitesburg, Ky., Carter Slone of Pikeville, Ky., three grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, one granddog, Champ, and a host of loving family and friends.

     Visitation will be Wednesday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home.  Church services will be Wednesday at 7p.m.  The funeral will be Thursday, Feb. 15, 2024 at 1p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Tim Tackett officiating.  Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery.
